Glory beat Adelaide

5:46 am on 23 December 2010

The Perth Glory have scored a rare victory in the A-League with a 4-2 home victory over a 10-man Adelaide.

Glory marquee Robbie Fowler scored a brace to secure just the second victory for Perth in their past 17 matches.

But the talking point of the match was Adelaide defender Robert Cornthwaite's straight red in the 75th minute, with his slight contact on Mile Sterjovski in the box earning the full wrath of referee Chris Beath.

Adelaide's second loss on the trot leaves them just four points clear of third-placed Central Coast and fourth-placed Gold Coast, who have both played two fewer games than United.

Perth climbed above North Queensland and Sydney into ninth spot but remain five points and massive goal difference adrift of the top six.

Central Coast beat North Queensland 1-nil in Gosford.
