The All Black halfback Piri Weepu is impressing the Hurricanes coaching staff with his workouts as he continues to recover from a broken leg.
Weepu suffered the injury during the NPC and missed the All Blacks end of year tour.
However the Hurricanes new coach Mark Hammett says Weepu's he's been working hard in pre-season training and con trolling his weight hasn't been an issue.
The new Super Rugby competition starts in eight weeks.
