Palace sack Burley, Swansea go second

Crystal Palace have sacked manager George Burley after the struggling Championship football side crashed to a 3-0 defeat at south London rivals Millwall.

Elsewhere, third-placed Norwich beat Championship leaders Queens Park Rangers 1-0 at Carrow Road while Swansea went second, four points behind QPR, after beating Reading 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

Cardiff slipped to fifth after a 3-0 loss at Bristol City while fourth-placed Leeds snatched a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at Elland Road.

Managerless Burnley handed new Sheffield United boss Micky Adams his first defeat in a 4-2 victory at Turf Moor.

Preston lost 2-1 to visitors Derby at Deepdale, sixth-placed Watford beat Portsmouth 3-0 and Doncaster had the same result against lowly Scunthorpe.

Leicester scored a 1-0 victory at Hull while Coventry drew 1-1 against Ipswich, Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Barnsley.
