The defending champions have failed to make the final of the Men's Pairs at the national bowls champs in Dunedin.

Gary Lawson and Danny Delany were upset 17-9 by Ali Forsyth and Matthew Gallop in Saturday's semi-finals.

The Forsyth Pairs struggled to start with, Lawson constantly killing the ends and Delany placing his draws well, but they found their line and turned the game around to finish the match an end early.

Forsyth and Gallop will now face Ryan Bester and Chris Le Lievre in the final, after they gave Phillip Skoglund and partner Dean Elgar a sound thrashing 19-3 in the other semi-final.

19-year-old Amy Brenton will face world number one singles player Jo Edwards in the Women's Singles finals.

Brenton took the post section by storm, beating local wildcard Sandra Keith 21-18 while Edwards, the world Singles number one beat team-mate and world number three Val Smith 21-17.

The Men's and Women's Singles and Pairs finals are on Tuesday with the Men's and Women's Fours commencing play on Wednesday.
