Joelle King shortlisted for another award

The New Zealand squash star Joelle King has been shortlisted for yet another award.

The world number 18 is one of five players in the running for the Most Improved Player of the Year at the 2010 World Squash awards in New York on January 20.

Australia's Kasey Brown, Malaysia's Low Wee Wern and Egyptians Nour El Tayeb and Raneem El Weleily are the other nominees.

King had a spectacular year in 2010, rising to number 17 in December, having started the year at number 31.

The 20-year-old Commonwealth games gold and silver medallist won her fifth WISPA Tour title andalso had wins over two top 10 players - Australian Rachael Grinham and Camille Serme from France.

King has already been named the Maori Sportswoman of the Year and been short listed for the Sportswoman of the Year at the Halberg Awards.
