Saints head coach refuses to blame injuries

The head coach of the American football side, the New Orleans Saints, refuses to blame injuries to his running backs as the reason his club's loss in the first round of the NFL postseason.

Yesterday the Sean Payton guided Saints were beaten 41-36 by the Seattle Seahawks, a team that won the NFC West with a 7-9 record and was widely considered to be the weakest team in the playoffs.

New Orleans, Super Bowl winners a year ago, were without injured running backs Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory and were missing Reggie Bush for the middle chunk of the season.

Payton says it has been one of those seasons and they had a number of injuries but that wasn't the difference in the loss to Seattle.

He adds in the end his side wasn't good enough in a number of areas and that was obvious to see.
