Luke Woodcock makes World Cup squad

The Wellington left-arm spinner Luke Woodcock and Canterbury fast bowler Hamish Bennett have made the 15-man New Zealand World Cup cricket squad.

Woodcock's the only uncapped ODI player while Bennett's back from injury after making ODI debut in Bangladesh last year.

The veteran allrounder Jacob Oram returns as doess the Central Districts batsman Jamie How, a surprise selection as backup wicketkeeper to Brendon McCullum.

Allrounder Grant Elliott and fast bowler Andy McKay miss out but their Wellington team-mate James Franklin remains in favour.

The rest of the squad Daniel Vettori will captain is: Jesse Ryder, Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, Scott Styris, Kane Williamson, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, Tim Southee and Hamish Bennett.

Meanwhile Mills, Williamson and Woodcock drop out for Saturday's opening one dayer against Pakistan in Wellington and will play for their provincial teams on Sunday.
