The Australian National Basketball League's Gold Coast Blaze have held off a fast-finishing Cairns Taipans to record a 90-85 victory in their ANBL clash at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Wednesday night.
Blaze import Ira Clark was a monster for the home team scoring 29 points and adding 10 rebounds, while Gold Coast point guard Adam Gibson contributed 19 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in another strong all-round performance.
Cairns high-flyer Ron Dorsey had a team-high 21 points, while teammate Ian Crosswhite had 16 points, five rebounds and six assists and Ayinde Ubaka scored 15 points.
The win improved Gold Coast to 7-10 for the season and sees them in sixth place on the Championship ladder, while the loss dropped Cairns into third on the table with a 10-5 record.
