McCullum may return to top but worth a crack at six

The New Zealand cricket captain Dan Vettori says the option remains for Brendon McCullum to open the innings in one day matches.

McCullum was dropped to six for the first one-dayer against Pakistan in Wellington with Martin Guptill opening with Jesse Ryder.

Vettori says McCullum has proven to be a great opener, but they have to look for some other options down the order with the World Cup just around the corner.

He says McCullum may well return to the top but with him and Jacob Oram doing a great job in the past in the middle order, it's worth a go again now.
