Murali to quit after World Cup

Record-breaking Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan says he will retire from international cricket after next month's World Cup tournament.

The 38-year-old Muralitharan told reporters the news on the sidelines of a training session in Colombo.

But he's set to play on in the lucrative Indian Premier League for two years, and the off-spinner says he's also looking at similar work in New Zealand and perhaps England.

Muralitharan is the world's leading wicket-taker in both Tests, with 800, and one-dayers, where he's taken 517 scalps, and he's already bowed out of Test matches six months ago.
