Otago seize chance against Auckland

7:12 pm on 23 January 2011

The wet weather sweeping the North Island may have put paid to two domestic one-day cricket matches, but leaders Auckland couldn't take advantage, losing by two wickets to Otago in Oamaru.

Otago bowled Auckland out for 199 in the 43rd over, then made 201 for eight early in the penultimate over.

The rain meant no chance of play in Whangarei between Northern Districts and Canterbury or at the Basin Reserve, where Wellington's clash with Central was also abandoned.

Otago climb to level top on the one-day table with Auckland on three wins apiece, though they trail on net run-rate.
