New Zealand Rowing's head coach Dick Tonks has been honoured by the world governing body of rowing FISA as the sport's top coach for 2010.

It is the second time Tonks has won the FISA World Coach of the Year Award.... he won it first in 2005.

At last year's World Championships at Karapiro, New Zealand crews took three titles and 10 medals in total.

The New Zealand pair of Eric Murray and Hamish were finalists in the male crew category, but the award went to the Czech Republic's Single Sculler Ondrej Synek, while the women's pair of Juliette Haigh and Rebecca Scown were beaten out for the female award by the Great Britain double scullers Anna Watkins and Katherine Grainger.
