Martin Kaymer has leapfrogged Tiger Woods to become the world's number two golfer, after the German stormed his way to an eight-shot victory in the Abu Dhabi Championship.

The 26-year-old Kaymer relegated Woods to world number three with his successful title defence in Abu Dhabi, capturing the event for a third time in four years.

The German beat nearest rival Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland by five strokes, carding a closing-round 66 for a 24-under-par victory tally.

Rotorua's Danny Lee posted a final round three-under 69 for a share of 53rd and two under overall.
