The Canterbury cricketer Ryan ten Doeschate will give his prize for winning the Twenty20 MVP player award to a Christchurch family hit by the September earthquake.
The 1500 dollar Mitre10 voucher will be given to a family found following an online nomination process.
Ten Doeschate, a Dutch international, missed the earthquake but he saw the effects and he hopes his contribution will help ease the stress for one family.
He is now playing in Tasmania.
