Austrian skiier waking up slowly

The doctors treating Austrian skier Hans Grugger, who's been in an induced coma since he suffered a crash during training at Kitzbuehel almost two weeks ago, say he's waking up gradually and increasingly opening his eyes.

However they added that these moments were still limited and the awakening process was expected to last a while longer.

Grugger suffered a horrific crash during training for the World Cup downhill on Kitzbuehel's famed Streif course on January the 20th.

Airlifted to the Innsbruck hospital, he was placed in an induced coma after undergoing an operation on serious head injuries.

The 29-year-old has four World Cup victories to his name and finished 22nd in the Olympic downhill last year.
