Imran says Pakistan need to name World Cup captain

9:32 am on 3 February 2011

The former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan believes his country's chances of winning the World Cup have been harmed by delaying the naming of the captain for the tournament which starts on the 19th of this month.

Speaking in Mumbai and flanked by other World Cup-winning captains, Khan says it takes time for a captain to identify players' strengths and weaknesses, and to develop strategies, and he believes the delayed announcement has put Pakistan at a big disadvantage.

Shahid Afridi is leading Pakistan in their current series here, and the side also includes their Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
