The 125 test veteran Shea McAleese has been named captain of the New Zealand men's hockey team for upcoming series against Korea and Belgium.

He takes over from Phil Burrows, who'll miss the eight tests through injury.

The Black Sticks first test against Belgium is on Tuesday, while the women's side play the first of five tests against Korea tomorrow in Auckland.
