The A-League's top six football teams have all but sewn up the playoff berths after a weekend of upsets in Australia.

Adelaide (47pts) remain assured of a finals berth despite their shock 1-nil loss to the Wellington Phoenix, and fill out the top four along with Brisbane in first on 59 Central Coast second on 51 and Gold Coast on 46.

The Melbourne Victory on 43 are the only team capable of sneaking past the southern Queenslanders into the top four.

Gold Coast beat the Glory 2-1 in Perth on Sunday night and need to take just one point from their last two games to guarantee a place in the four.

Brisbane Roar sealed the A-League minor premiership without kicking a ball on Friday night, with the draw between the Mariners and Heart ensuring they could not be run down atop the competition.
