Eden Gardens likely to retain remaining three world cup games

The fate of the remaining three World Cup cricket matches at Kolkata's Eden Gardens looks safe after an "encouraging" report from the International Cricket Council's inspection team.

In a major embarrassment that revived bitter memories of India's struggle to get Delhi ready for last year's Commonwealth Games, Eden Gardens was stripped of the Feb. 27 India v England match last month because of delays in reconstruction work, and that game has been transferred to Bangalore.

The ICC's chief executive Haroon Lorgat says significant progress has been made since their last inspection of the ground two weeks ago.
