The Polish Formula One driver Robert Kubica, who was seriously injured in a high-speed rally crash in Italy last weekend, is improving but faces two further operations to stabilise fractures.

Kubica's Lotus-Renault team says his general condition has improved following the initial seven hours of surgery two days ago in Genoa.

The 26 year old driver is expected to undergo further surgery tomorrow night to stabilise fractures to his right shoulder and right foot, and he also nees further surgery on a broken elbow.
