Tasmanian spinner gets late World Cup callup

8:34 am on 9 February 2011

The Tasmanian spin bowler Jason Krejza has received a World Cup call-up just two days after his one-day international debut.

Krejza comes into the squad as the replacement for Nathan Hauritz who has a shoulder injury, while a hamstring injury has also ended Mike Hussey's World Cup, and his place will be taken by the South Australian batsman Callum Ferguson.

Captain Ricky Ponting has been declared fit to lead the side after a month long recovery from a broken finger.

The Australian squad leaves for the sub-Continent tonight.
