Gatland gets vote of confidence from his bosses

Wales' under-pressure rugby coach Warren Gatland has received a vote of confidence from his bosses who've said sacking the New Zealander was the furthest thing from their minds.

Wales head to Edinburgh for a second round Six Nations match against Scotland this weekend on a run of eight games without a win - a sequence that continued with a 26-19 loss to England in their Championship opener at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium last weekend.

In November, during the middle of a trough which dates back to last season, the Welsh Union gave Gatland a four-year contract extension, rather than wait until after this year's World Cup in New Zealand before making a decision on his future.

The Welsh Union's chief executive Roger Lewis is adamant that in pure rugby terms, Gatland is still the right man for the job.
