The Australian tennis Open winner Kim Clijsters is two matches away from returning to the number one ranking for the first time in five years.

The Belgian needs to make the semi-finals of the Paris-Coubertin tournament this week to overtake Denmark's incumbent Caroline Wozniacki.

Clijsters held the top ranking in 2003, and for seven weeks in 2006 before her retirement and subsequent return to the game two years later.

Clijsters, who now has four grand slam titles, says it would be great to manage it again during her second career.
