Black Caps confident under former Indian coach

The New Zealand cricket team play their first cricket world cup warm-up match against lowly Ireland in Nagpur today, and captain Daniel Vettori is confident that the Black Caps should prosper on the sub-continent under the guidance of former Indian coach John Wright.

Wright took over as Black Caps coach at the start of the recent series against Pakistan, after several years in the cricketing wilderness following a successful five year stint coaching India.

Vettori says Wright's unrivalled knowledge of the subcontinent pitches has been invaluable as the Black Caps prepare their assault on the world cup in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh which officially gets underway on Saturday week.

He says Wright knows what it takes to succeed in the Sub-continent and has a wealth of knowledge about local conditions, including the grounds they'll play on.

The Black Caps warm-up match against Ireland gets underway at 10pm.
