Wallabies star hopes to have European deal wrapped up shortly

Matt Giteau hopes to have a European deal secured by the end of the week, as he prepares to captain the Brumbies in Super rugby for the first time against the Chiefs on Saturday.

The 91-Test veteran has been linked with a move to France after this year's World Cup and says he hopes to sign an overseas contract before the Super rugby kickoff.

Giteau has been named in his favourite position of first five for the Chiefs clash at Canberra Stadium, but it's captaining the club he first played for in 2003 that has the playmaker most excited.

The 28-year-old is filling-in for regular captain Stephen Hoiles, who is making his comeback off the bench from an achilles tendon injury.
