South Africa demolish Australia in CWC warmup

8:07 am on 16 February 2011

Ricky Ponting's defending World Cup Cricket champions have been given a lesson by South Africa in a warm-up game in Bangalore.

Despite a century partnership of 126 between Ponting and Michael Clarke, Australia couldn't bat out their 50 overs and were bundled out for 217.

The Proteas were only three wickets down when they achieved their target with nearly six overs to spare.

South Africa have never won the World Cup and infamously choked at the semi-final stages against Australia in the 1999 and 2007 tournaments.

The Black Caps play their final warmup match tonight against India in Chennai, where their opening game of the tournament proper is against Kenya on Sunday.
