The New Zealand cricketers have slumped to a 117 run loss to India in Chennai, in their final World Cup warm up match.

India batting first piled on 360 for five in their 50 overs led by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who made an unbeaten 108 off just 64 balls, with 11 boundaries and three sixes.

Pace bowler Kyle Mills was punished by the Indian batsmen going for 81 off his ten overs in taking just one wicket while Jacob Oram went for 70 off nine overs in taking two wickets.

New Zealand's run chase started postively with Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill putting on 94 for the opening partnership, with McCullum top scoring with 58.

But the middle order struggled with the turn and bounce of the Indian spinners as the Black Caps stuttered to 147 for five, with stand in skipper Ross Taylor again failing, making only five as New Zealand was eventually dismissed for 243.

The Black Caps first match of the tournament is against Kenya on Sunday and will be on the same pitch in Chennai.
