The Crusaders fullback Israel Dagg has recovered from injury in time to be named to start in their Super Rugby opener against the Blues at Eden Park on Saturday night.
Dagg missed their final pre-season match with a thigh injury.
However the Crusaders are without Richie McCaw, Sonny Bill Williams, Zac Guildford, Ryan Crotty and Kahn Fotuali'i.
Kieren Read will captain the side from number eight, while Matt Todd will play his first game for the Crusaders at openside.
Reserve lock Chris Jack will play his 99th game for the Crusaders if he takes the field.
