Tough early test for Highlanders

8:12 am on 18 February 2011

The Highlanders and Hurricanes kick off the new Super rugby season tonight in Wellington and the southerners new coach Jamie Joseph concedes he has a real challenge on his hands to turn around their recent poor form.

The Highlanders are without two key players Colin Slade and Tom Donnelly, an early test of the depth in their squad, half of whom are from outside the region.

Jamie Joseph says their fans expectations are probably not that high going into the new season, while new Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett says most sides will probably take a few weeks to get up to speed.
