Liverpool held by Sparta in Europa League

Kenny Dalglish has extended his unbeaten streak as Liverpool manager as his first European football match in the dugout saw the Reds held to a goalless draw at Sparta Prague in their Europa League last 32 first leg clash.

But the game gave him few reasons to smile before Liverpool face Sparta at Anfield in a week and the Scot admits he'll be looking for a far more offensive-minded performance.

The game was Dalglish's first in a European competition as Liverpool manager as the Reds were banned from European cups throughout his first term.

The ban followed the 1985 Heysel Stadium disaster that left 39 people dead in the wake of rioting ahead of the European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus.
