Shaw calls time on his career

The Black Sticks' defender and drag flick expert Hayden Shaw has played his last hockey test for New Zealand.

Shaw ended his career by scoring the series-winning equalising goal for the Black Sticks in their 3-all draw with South Korea yesterday in Mt Maunganui.

The 177 test veteran says not being a professional means he has to think about work and spending more time with his wife and their baby son.

Shaws rates among his highlights the Black Sticks sixth placing at the Athens Olympics.

He was in the silver medal-winning team at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games.
