Black Caps captain targeting Aussie clash

On the back of their 10 wicket hammering of Kenya the New Zealand cricket captain Daniel Vettori says a win over Australia in their next World Cup match would provide the perfect platform to launch their bid for the title.

The Black Caps crushed the east Africa minnows in Chennai last night, the New Zealand batsman needing just eight overs to claim the victory after bowling out the Kenyans for a paltry 69.

Vettori says the emphatic win was a major confidence boost for the unfancied Black Caps but says they'll find out the true strength of their world cup credentials against trans-tasman rivals Australia in Nagpur on Friday.

In last night's other group A game co-hosts Sri Lanka thrashed Canada by 210 runs.
