The America's Cup regatta director says Monday's capsizing involving the catamaran prototype on Waitemata Harbour shows that crews will have to get familiar with the handling of the revolutionary boats.
The million-dollar catamaran being trialled by America's Cup teams in Auckland flipped during training - it was being trialled by crew from the Swedish team Artemis and no one was hurt during the accident.
It is the first of a fleet of 10 to be built near Auckland, and used for a World Series starting later this year in the run-up to the 2013 America's Cup.
Regatta director Iain Murray says the boat was at a stand-still and the crew weren't fast enough to respond to a gust of wind.
Murray says there's some minor damage to the mast but the boat should be back on the water by the weekend.
