IRB not commenting on World Cup following quake

5:49 am on 23 February 2011

The International Rugby Union won't be commenting at this stage on the status of this year's World Cup in New Zealand following yesterday's Christchurch earthquake.

AMI Stadium is likely to have suffered some damage following the quake.

An IRB statement says the thoughts and deepest sympathies of the global Rugby family are with the people of Christchurch, their families and all New Zealanders at this very difficult time.

The IRB feels it would be inappropriate to comment at this stage on the status of Rugby World Cup 2011 infrastructure or operations.

The Crusaders are scheduled to play the Hurricanes in Wellington this Saturday night.
