The Hurricanes second five eighth Ma'a Nonu's one week ban has been changed to a one match ban and he'll be out until after their next Super Rugby match against the Chiefs on March 12th.
Nonu was handed a one week ban following their opening round loss to the Highlanders and that was due to finish on Monday.
However now that the Hurricanes match against the Crusaders has been called off and the Hurricanes have a bye in round three, the SANZAR Judicial Officer Nigel Hampton QC has clarified the situation.
Hampton says it would be wrong for Nonu to be eligible to play rugby without serving any effective sanction.
The Hurricanes are considering an appeal.
