Japanese rugby will make a donation to the victims of the devastating earthquake which claimed the lives of more than 100 people in Christchurch.
The Japan Rugby Union chairman Nobby Mashimo says the Japanese and New Zealand rugby unions have a strong bond and the JRFU feel the deepest sympathy for the families and friends of the earthquake victims.
He says while it appears there may be several Japanese people among the victims, the hearts of the JRFU members go out to all involved and they are very much in their thoughts.
The JRFU will devote this weekend's Japan Cup final in commemoration to the victims of Tuesday's 6.3 magnitude quake, which resulted in 113 confirmed dead with more than 200 still missing.
Both teams, Sanyo and Suntory, will hold a minute's silence prior to kickoff in Tokyo and at half-time a donation will be made to New Zealand's ambassador to Japan, Ian Kennedy.
Collections will also be taken from the crowd.
The Japan national coach John Kirwan, a former All Black, is also set to address the crowd during the half-time break.
