Kings upset Taipans in ANBL

The Sydney Kings have defied their bottom placing on the ANBL basketball ladder to defeat play-off contenders the Cairns Taipans 76-75 at the Cairns Convention Centre on Friday night.

It was the second time within a week the Kings had beaten the Taipans, who slumped to their fifth loss in as many games.

Kings big man Julian Khazzouh led all scorers with 23 points and was ably assisted by Patrick Sanders with 17.

Ron Dorsey top scored for the Taipans with 20 points, while Alex Loughton chipped in with 16.

The Kings' victory improves their season record to six wins and 16 losses, with the Sydneysiders heading south to take on the Crocs in Townsville on Saturday night.

The fourth placed Taipans now have 11 wins and 11 losses to their name for the season and are next in action against the Adelaide 36ers in Adelaide next Friday.
