A brilliant diving catch by Tamim Iqbal and a four-wicket blast by paceman Shafiul Islam helped tournament co-hosts Bangladesh to a pulsating 27-run win over Ireland in their cricket World Cup Group B match on Friday night.

Chasing 206 for victory, Ireland looked like they were on coarse to break Bangladeshi hearts coasting on 151 for five but a brilliant diving catch by Iqbal got rid of dangerman Niall O'Brien (38) to turn the match on its head.

Ireland then preceded to lose regular wickets and Shafiul mopped up the rest of the tailenders to hand Bangladesh their first win at this World Cup after being hammered by India in their opening match.
