England take honours at Twickenham

9:13 am on 27 February 2011

The England rugby team is on track for a Six Nations grand slam after beating the only other undefeated side France 17-9 at Twickenham.

England battled through the determined French challenge to win a riveting duel and remain on course for their first Six Nations title since 2003 as well as a possible grand slam.

After turning round at 9-9, England won with the only try by Ben Foden and another penalty by Jonny Wilkinson.

The victory made it 10 in the last 12 at Twickenham for England over France in championship matches and will give them something of a psychological boost ahead of a potential quarter-final meeting at the World Cup later this year.

Earlier Wales beat Italy 24-16 in Rome.
