Pulse go close again

6:59 am on 1 March 2011

For the second time this weekend the Central pulse have come agonizingly close to scoring a win in the trans-Tasman netball competition, losing 46-44 to the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in Wellington.

The winless Pulse lost by 2 to the Southern Steel on Saturday.

The TSB Arena was evacuated during the first quarter after a fire alarm went off, and the homeside returned strong and led 14-11 at the first break, however the Magic took control to lead by 5 at half time.

The Pulse's defence continued to cause problems for the Magic who failed to move clear.

The Pulse captain Katrina Grant says the two close encounters were far from encouraging for the side, who had to learn how to get over the line.

Rival captain Laura Langman wasnt singing the praises of her side either, despite the win that keeps the Magic at the top of the points table, she instead paid credit to the Pulse side for exposing the Magic too many times.

Meanwhile the Queensland Firebirds went top of the standings with a 62-38 win over the West Coast Fever in Perth.
