Revamp of Plunkett Shield schedule announced

6:44 pm on 2 March 2011

New Zealand Cricket has announced a revamped Plunket Shield four day programme, in the wake of the Christchurch earthquake.

Matches scheduled to be begin tomorrow will now start on Monday, while matches due to start on March 10th will begin on March 14th.

The chief executive of New Zealand Cricket says the Canterbury side has been severly affected by the quake and the delay will help them recover and make it fairer on all six teams in the competition.

Last week's Canterbury-Wellington match was abandoned with administrators now discussing the most appropriate distribution of points from that match.
