The Olympic equestrian gold medalist Blyth Tait is coming out of retirement, aiming to qualify for the Olympic Games in London next year.
Tait retired in 2004 after collecting four Olympic medals, among them the gold for the individual three-day event at Atlanta in 1996.
The 49-year-old former world number one says he's looking for a challenge and the games being in London is a bonus because he lived and competed in England for 15 years and still has many contacts there.
He's not expecting any favours from the New Zealand selectors though and knows he has to prove himself again and work hard on his fitness.
Tait's leaving for Britain at the end of this month after recently buying a three-quarter share in Santos, a 12-year-old bay gelding.
