New Zealand swimmer Cara Baker has finished runner-up in the Australian Open Water Championships near Sydney.
The Queensland-based Baker produced a strong performance but was beaten by nearly five minutes by the 2009 world champion Melissa Gorman in the 10 kilometre race.
Baker is pushing to qualify for the London Olympics and finished provisionally inside the qualifying process for July's world championships in Shanghai, where the top-10 finishers will earn direction selection for London.
