Celtic eight clear after win at Hamilton

Two stunning strikes from Kris Commons helped the Celtic football club to a 2-nil win over Hamilton that extends their lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League to eight points.

The Hoops appeared to be suffering from a hangover from their explosive midweek Old Firm win in the first-half with a below par performance until a superb 20-yard shot from Commons gave them the lead in the 42nd minute.

The Scotland international was gifted a second just seven minutes after the break when he took advantage of a slack back pass from David Elebert to slam home from just inside the box.

The win piles the pressure on rivals Rangers, who are away to St Mirren on Monday.

In the battle of third versus fourth at Tynecastle ten-man Kilmarnock reduced the gap with Hearts with a 2-nil win.
