Overseas based players still ineligible for All Blacks

The New Zealand rugby union has reaffirmed it's opposition to selecting overseas based players for the All Blacks.

The chief executive of the rugby union Steve Tew says the matter was discussed at a recent NZRU board meeting in Wellington, after recent newspaper stories suggested an exception could be made for overseas based prop Carl Hayman for the World Cup.

Tew says the opportunity to play for the All Blacks is a big incentive for players to remain and he doubts the matter will be raised again before the world cup.

He says changing the policy in the near future would be unfair to players have already committed to playing here for the next few years.
