The Breakers have lost to the Crocodiles in the Australian basketball league, going down 100-92 in Townsville.

The Crocodiles slashed a double-digit lead to run away with the game at the Townsville Entertainment Centre, the slow-starting Crocodiles trailing by 10 points after five minutes and 15 midway through the second.

Gary Wilkinson scored 22 points but his heroics weren't enough for the minor premiers while Tom Abercrombie got 18 and Kirk Penney 13 for the Breakers.

The Wollongong Hawks consolidated their position in fourth place of the ANBL championship after accounting for the Adelaide 36ers 87-60 at home, their fourth straight win.

The Cairns Taipans reinvigorated their season with a gritty 79-63 home victory over the Melbourne Tigers at the Cairns Convention Centre.

It was the Taipans' first win at home in nearly two months, keeping alive their hopes of a top-four finish.
