Hunter Mahan continues to lead at the halfway stage of the World Golf Championships event in Miami while fellow American and former world number one Tiger Woods dropped further behind.

Mahan opened a four-stroke lead at one stage, but the 28-year-old Californian came back to the field with two late bogeys for a still-solid one-under-par 71 and a one-shot lead over German world number one Martin Kaymer and Italian Francesco Molinari.

Woods, now ranked fifth in the world, continues to look a pale shadow of his former self, falling nine strokes behind with a mediocre two over par 74 to end on even par.
