Kings move up ladder while Wildcats douse blaze

The Sydney Kings have escaped with a thrilling 76-72 comeback win over the Adelaide 36ers at the Sydney Entertainment Centre last night to move off the bottom of the ANBL basketball table for the first time since round seven.

The win moved the Kings past Adelaide into eighth place on the ladder.

Meanwhile, in Perth a massive second quarter 17-0 run has helped the Wildcats consolidate second spot on the ladder and end the Gold Coast Blaze's playoff hopes with a 102-81 win at Challenge Stadium.

The Blaze came into the game needing to win all of their remaining matches to still make the playoffs for the second straight season following Friday's loss at home to Wollongong, but the Wildcats were far too good all night to win big by 21 points.

The Cats can lock down second spot come playoffs time with a win in their next game on Friday, but a loss will leave them needing to beat Cairns in their final match while hoping Townsville slip up in their last two games.
