Japanese MotoGP to be postponed

The International Motorcycling Federation says the Japanese round of the MotoGP championship next month will be postponed for the second year in a row due to the earthquake and tsunami.

Last year's race had to be postponed due to travel disruption caused by an ash cloud from an Icelandic volcano.

The April 24 race at Twin Ring Motegi would have been the third round of the championship and is now likely to be rescheduled for October 2, a fortnight before Australian Grand Prix.

The season starts in Qatar this weekend.
