Cho looking for double in Melbourne

The women's world number one Cecilia Cho is looking for the double when the Australian Amateur Championship tees off at Melbourne Huntingdale Golf Club today.

The 16-year-old Aucklander won Australian strokeplay honours and was runner-up in the matchplay in her first international outing last year, losing the final to Stacey Keating, who is now a European Tour professional.

Cho became the third New Zealander to win the Australian strokeplay title after Sarah Nicholson in 2006 and Lynette Brooky in 1993.

She's just returned from representing New Zealand at the Queen Sirikit Cup and

says she enjoyed her first outing at Huntingdale where she's aiming to win the strokeplay and matchplay titles.

The other New zealanders in the field include Lydia Ko, who finished leading amateur at last month's Australian Open, Waikato's Emily Perry, who was a member of the Queen Sirikit Cup team with Cho and Ko, and North Harbour's Faye-Amy Nickson.
